Operation American Dream Executive Director Chuck Nadd awards 6-year-old Shelby Oliver, who is joined by her mother, Crystal Oliver, a $6,455.91 scholarship at the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office administration building April 20. Operation American Dream provides scholarships to children of military, law enforcement and fire rescue personnel killed in the line of duty, Nadd said. Shelby’s father, Deputy Eric Oliver, was killed Nov. 22 after he was accidently struck by a vehicle while running after a suspect across A1A in Yulee. Nadd said donations for Shelby Oliver’s scholarship are still accepted at www.operationamericandream.org or www.deputyoliver.com. When asked what she wants to be when she grows up, Shelby said, “I want to work at the animal hospital with Mommy.”
