A two-vehicle collision in Bryceville the morning of Aug. 29 sent a truck driver to the hospital with serious injuries. No one else was injured in the collision.
Ryan Bronson, 28, of Jacksonville was driving a 2016 Peterbilt tractor-trailer northbound on County Road 121 near Stokes Road when the accident occurred just before 6:30 a.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release.
Bronson was hauling trash as he attempted to pass a 2001 GMC Silverado driven by Abraham Alfonso, 32, of Immokalee in the left lane.
At the same time that Bronson tried to pass the Silverado, Alfonso was attempting to make a left turn onto Stokes Road, according to the press release.
Herrera Hernandez, 31, Sergio Modesto, 31, and Hidalgo Salazar, 28, all of Immokalee, were listed as passengers in Alfonso’s pickup.
As a result of the collision, the tractor-trailer overturned, dumping the trash on the road. Traffic was diverted to County Road 119 during the closure. The roadway reopened around 3 p.m.
Bronson was transported to UF Health Jacksonville. All of the occupants wore safety restraints, according to the press release.
