Life Care Center of Hilliard’s executive director recently earned a President’s Award.
Tony Rimmer earned the award from Life Care Centers of America. He was one of two recipients for the Southeast Division.
The President’s Award, given during Life Care’s annual management meeting at its headquarters in Cleveland, Tenn. Aug. 14, recognizes distinguished service in a long-term health care management role. The Southeast Division includes 21 skilled nursing and rehab facilities in Florida.
“Tony is a servant leader,” said Chris Green, vice president of Life Care’s Palmetto Region. “His associates value his experience, high ethical values and, most of all, his dedication and devotion to his residents.”
Under Rimmer’s leadership, Life Care Center of Hilliard opened up as a training site for health care service students from the local high school to do their clinical rotations.
Rimmer was especially praised, however, for his leadership during Hurricane Matthew in October. Not only did Life Care Center of Hilliard care well for its own residents during the storm, but it also took in 25 residents from another skilled nursing center in Nassau County that had to evacuate. Rimmer and the staff provided these guest residents with meals, supplies and services, and the residents were impressed with the service they received.
Two days after the evacuated residents returned to their building, the state surveyors arrived for the building’s annual survey. Under Rimmer’s leadership, even though the associates were exhausted from the hurricane, Life Care Center of Hilliard achieved a deficiency-free survey.
“Tony has demonstrated professional skill and compassion in dispatching his responsibilities to the associates, residents and families he serves,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president. “He has uniquely demonstrated a leadership style for others to emulate. This is a distinguished award to receive because it goes to the heart of our mission.”
Fifteen President’s Awards are presented annually to leaders of overall successful facilities or organizations within Life Care.
