The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office honored several employees and a volunteer of the year recently.
“Our community is in good hands with all those who serve our citizens day in and day out,” said Sheriff Bill Leeper. “Whether they are sworn or non-sworn, our employees are the very best and it is an honor for me to be able to work with them each and every day.”
The NCSO is the largest and most visible county agency and answers more calls for service than all other departments combined. Its employees were honored during a ceremony March 28. Some were honored for their dedication and commitment to the community as they placed their own lives in harm’s way to protect citizens. Others were honored for saving lives or exceptional service.
“We need to make sure we have the necessary tools, equipment, personnel and resources available in order to do the job and keep all of us safe and secure,” Leeper said. “Our employees are our most valuable asset and we must do all we can to make sure they are appreciated and rewarded for their hard work.”
Hilliard resident Emily Baumgart-ner was named Volunteer of the Year while Crime Analyst Angela Conboy is the Civilian Employee of the Year. Danielle Rubio is the Communications Officer of the Year while Detention Deputy of the Year is Deputy Jonathan McCracken. Patrol Deputy of the Year is Deputy Brad Knight. Investigator of the Year is Det. Mark Murdock and Supervisor of the Year is Sgt. Cedric Arline.
Life-Saving Award certificates and pins were given to Det. Jeremy Hyers, Det. David Douglas, Deputy Lizandro Deleon, Deputy Bill Quick, Deputy Mark Hunter and Deputy William Morgan.
Special recognition was given to Det. Thomas Kelley for his actions during Hurricane Irma.
“We have an extremely talented and dedicated group of law enforcement professionals and support staff who are truly committed to serving the public with professionalism and pride,” Leeper said.
