Callahan Intermediate School’s fifth grade team celebrates a milestone that’s never before been achieved in the Nassau County School district. When the scores came in from last school year’s Florida Standard Assessment, it showed outstanding student achievement in all three subject areas. Students scored 85 percent in English/language arts, 85 percent in science and 95 percent in math. The fifth grade teachers and paraprofessionals were honored and recognized at the Nassau County School Board meeting Aug. 23. Fifth grade teachers include Kim Shumate, Alisha Whitaker, Alax Purvis, Miranda Thompson, Stephanie DeAngelo, Stephen Simmons, Heather Drury, Linda Brown, Kelsey Schwertfeger, Pat Bullard and Elaine Ward.
