Two people died in a collision with a log truck in Bryceville Tuesday morning and a passenger died in a Yulee accident Thursday.
According to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, the Bryceville accident occurred on Ford Road at Buckhead Trail, which is the entrance to a subdivision. Alfred D. Pope, 57, of Middleburg was driving a 2007 log truck northbound on Buckhead Trail at 4:09 a.m. He turned left to head west on Ford Road, pulling into the path of a 2005 Toyota Tacoma that was eastbound on Ford.
The Tacoma’s driver, Holly Ulsch of Keystone Heights, was unable to avoid striking the left side of Pope’s trailer. The driver and passenger, Phillip J. Ulsch, 38, of Bryceville, died in the crash. Holly Ulsch was wearing a seatbelt and Phillip Ulsch was not, according to the press release.
The Ulsches are survived by six children.
Charges are pending.

A Callahan man was a passenger in a crash that took his life Thursday.
According to a press release from the FHP, Brian K. Holtkamp, 30, of Yulee was driving a 1996 Buick Century northbound on U.S. 17 north of Burney Road. At the same time, Michael A. McCormick, 32, also of Yulee, was driving a 1999 Dodge Stratus southbound.
For unknown reasons, Holtkamp’s vehicle crossed the center line into the path of McCormick’s car and the two hit head-on at 9:35 p.m. Both vehicles stopped in the southbound lane.
Holtkamp and McCor-mick were both taken to UF Health Jacksonville with critical injuries. Justin Kyle Cribb, 37, was the passenger in Holtkamp’s car and he died at the scene of the accident. It was unknown whether any of the men were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.
Charges pend further investigation.

In Duval County, a Yulee man was involved in a hit-and-run Friday morning on I-95 near mile marker 362.
According to the press release from FHP, Alfred Charles Verpault, 62, was driving a 2014 Mercedes Class C in the right exit lane at 6:20 a.m. The other driver, who was possibly driving a black late model Nissan, hit the left side of Verpault’s vehicle then continued southbound onto the I-295 beltway.
No injuries occurred. No additional information as available and the accident did not have any witnesses.
