Amanda Ream takes leadership of the Nassau County Record to a new level this week as she adds publisher to her job title.

Ream began serving as editor and publisher of the Record Sunday. She first joined the Record staff July 19, 2005 as its general news reporter. Ream advanced to editor of the community newspaper in January 2008 and recently received news of her promotion.

The Record is owned by CNI Newspapers, Inc. and operates in the company’s Coastal Region.

“The NCR team, under her leadership over the years, has done an incredible job reporting on the communities and schools they serve,” Regional Publisher Foy Maloy said. “I am proud the day has arrived to make this announcement and for Amanda to be recognized for all of her hard work.”

Ream is responsible for proofreading, graphic design of the editorial content and making decisions regarding the placement of news and photographs for each edition. She also updates the newspaper’s website and social media content. Ream can often be found at local events, particularly middle and high school sporting events, usually standing on the sidelines taking photographs.

“As a resident of Callahan, she has unselfishly supported and embraced the community and is well prepared for the next step in her career,” Maloy said.

Ream has mentored students at Hilliard Middle-Senior High School for nearly nine years via Take Stock in Children. She and her family, including husband Chad and son Owen, regularly attend local community events. The family looks forward to the Greater Nassau County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Christmas parade this Saturday.

“I love the small-town atmosphere and am pleased to have made so many connections within Callahan, Hilliard, Bryceville, Boulogne and the surrounding areas,” Ream said. “I’m pleased to receive the new title and happy to continue to record the community’s memories within the pages of the Record– which was once the Callahan News and enters its 87th year of publication in 2017.”

Ream leads a staff that includes general news reporter Kathie Colgrove, a Fernandina Beach native who joined the newspaper in February 2008. Callahan resident Colleen Martin started her position at the Record in January 2013 as the classified advertising representative and administrative assistant. Samantha Coxwell of Callahan is the Record’s display advertising specialist and joined the staff in October 2015.

Editorial submissions may still be sent to Ream at editor@nassaucountyrecord.com or via www.nassaucountyrecord.com/webforms.
