Students step back in time during Hilliard Elementary School’s recent Pioneer Day. The day was filled with activities, including corn grinding, washing clothes on a wash board, square dancing and writing with quill pens. Students were also treated to presentations on soap making, early Florida cattle drives, horse shoeing and folk music. Everyone made a pioneer craft to take home, including clay pots, weaved baskets and dipped candles to commemorate the day.
