Six youth from Hilliard First Assembly of God are fund raising to travel to California to compete in the National Fine Arts Festival.
Isabelle Comer, Bailey Crawford, Logan Crawford, Jakob Hinson, Benjamin Sharpe and Amelia Underwood advanced to the national event after receiving superior ratings in one or more categories at the Penn Florida District Fine Arts Festival in May.
The youth will hold a car wash fundraiser to help with the costs associated with the trip. It will be held at O’Reilly’s in Callahan July 29, beginning at 10 a.m. Donations will be accepted at the car wash and can also be mailed directly to the church.
A total of 21 youth from Hilliard First Assembly of God participated in the district competition, held annually at Faith Assembly of God in Orlando. Fine arts is a discipleship tool of National Youth Ministries designed to “help students discover and develop their ministry gifts.”
With some competing in multiple categories, the Hilliard youth performed 18 entries total in the following categories: large human video, senior female vocal solo, junior female vocal solo, worship leading solo, short sermon senior, spoken word, rap solo, woodwind solo and worship dance solo.
All of the participants scored an excellent rating or higher with six receiving the superior and invitation to nationals in Anaheim, Calif. The event will be held Aug. 7-11.
To make donations toward the youth’s trip to nationals via the church, mail checks to Hilliard First Assembly of God, 550920 U.S. 1, Hilliard, FL 32046, including the youth’s trip in the reason line.
