Friendship Alliance Church celebrated the beginning of transition July 15.

Pastor Tim Carpenter, who has served at the Callahan church for more than 25 years, initiated the process of passing the torch of ministry to Marty Paparo. They will serve together for the next 18 months before Carpenter retires.

A dinner from Callahan Barbecue was held at the church, located at the corner of Pickett Street and Mary Sauls Circle, prior to the service to initiate Paparo into Friendship’s ministry.

Five Alliance pastors and families, along with Alfred Gutierrez, assistant to the superintendent, led the service in song, preaching of the Word and a prayer of dedication.

Paparo was born and raised in Miramar. He and wife Jenny celebrated 11 years of marriage this month. They have three daughters, Katie, Hannah and Bethany.

Paparo has served as a student ministries pastor at Everglades Community Church for 10 years. He has a bachelor’s degree in Christian ministries from Trinity International University and went on to earn his master’s degree in church planting from Asbury Theological Seminary.

He will serve as associate pastor, focusing on students and young adults. Paparo desires to join God on His mission to people.

Paparo is excited that the Lord has brought him to the mission at Friendship Alliance Church to share the love of Jesus Christ with the community.
