The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office, Nassau County Emergency Management and the Florida Forestry Service partnered with Target to participate in National Night Out in the Target parking lot in Yulee Aug. 1. Citizens came together to interact and get safety information, with children exploring police vehicles. Target employees served free hot dogs. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. “It allows our deputies to interact with the community in a non-traditional setting and allows citizens to see our officers care for what they’re doing and interact in a different way,” said Sheriff Bill Leeper. “My favorite part is seeing all the kids enjoying themselves.”
