The Country Star Quilt Guild of Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia sells tickets for $1 each for a chance to win a patriotic quilt created by guild member Betty Jeffreys.
The money collected will go toward fabric for future charity quilts. Tickets will be available from the guild at Callahan’s Christmas celebration Dec. 1 and from guild members. The drawing will be held at 3 p.m. Dec. 10 at Southeastern Bank in Hilliard.
The Country Star Quilt Guild meets at First Baptist Church of Hilliard on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. for conversation and refreshments with an evening program starting at 7. Programs are presented on various quilting and piecing techniques, sewing equipment and maintenance, historical quilting and restoration, and all the stories behind the quilts, etc. Each month beautiful quilts are shown by meeting participants to inspire others.
Additional learning opportunities are available during the Sit ’n Sews held the second and fourth Fridays of each month where individual and group quilting projects are worked on. Guild members are always working on charity quilts and sewing projects for such organizations as Pinky Promise, The Nest, Ryan’s Cases for Smiles and the Veterans Hospital. The guild has many fun activities, events and programs planned for the coming year.
Guild activities and future meeting topics are posted online at www.CountryStarQuilters.org.
